I am the father of a previous First Solar employee that ( IN MY OPINION OF WHAT WE KNOW ) has been discriminated against because he is White. Not what you expected to read to lead into this story is it ? But wait till you read the rest of this.
NOTICE TO FIRST SOLAR EMPLOYEES
I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE E-MAILED US IN SUPPORT. THANK YOU FOR THE PHONE CALLS. WE HAVE KEPT THE E-MAILS FROM YOU, AND I AM GETTING PHONE CALL RECORDS FROM OUR TELEPHONE SERVICE PROVIDER. IF THE INVESTIGATORS FROM EEOC NEEDS THIS , WE WILL MAKE IT AVAILABLE. DO NOT BE AFRAID . ACCORDING TO EEOC , YOU CANNOT BE FIRED FOR HELPING IN THE INVESTIGATION. DON'T LET ANYONE TRY TO INTIMIDATE YOU. MOST IMPORTANTLY, YOU DO NOT WANT TO LIE TO THE FEDERAL INVESTIGATOR IF CALLED UPON.
If this happened to you or your family , you would be furious. Take a good look at this before you even think of purchasing any Solar Panels from this company. They are getting Rich from the Labor of people Like my son and then Lieing and commiting discrimination. Ok here's the rest of the story.
My son became employed at First Solar in Perrysburg ,Ohio on Aug.7th,2006 . He worked on the production line 12 hours every day.
After about 1 year he joined the safety team and the First Aide responders team. He took classes in Safety procedures to learn how to respond to emergencies in the plant with fellow employees. Gerry was asked on numerous occasions by Nick B. his immediate Supervisor , To work overtime . Gerry always agreed when he was needed.
Gerrys attendance was very good and his fellow employees liked him . He was helpful to them and got along well with them. This can be substantiated with letters from them.
The floor team leaders and supervision liked Gerry . Some of the employees and Supervision ask his help even in financial matters due to their future stock options comeing from First Solar to the employees.
Approx. March , 2007 Gerry decided he would like to work in the Shipping dept . He Bid and got a position that included Forklift driving.
HERE'S WHERE WE BELIEVE THE DISCRIMINATION ISSUE COMES INTO PLAY. ( OF COURSE UNTIL THE EEOC INVESTIGATES THIS IS OUR OPINION AND OF COURSE ACCORDING TO THE PHONE CALLS AND EMAILS FROM OTHER EMPLOYEES, THEY ARE UPSET TOO.
NOTICE :
REMEMBER TO CO OPERATE WITH ANY INVESTIGATION DONE BY THE EEOC. THE EMAILS WE HAVE RECEIVED ARE BEING SAVED AND WILL BE GIVEN TO EEOC IF NEEDED.
Gerry drove Forklift approx twelve hours a day doing multiple shipping task and material moving. His first incident came about when he hit an I-beam. He was trying to look to the side to make sure no employees where in danger of the forklift . It happens.
Then approx 4 and 1/2 months later, Gerry was moving a box of Solar panels and the Pallet was defective. He did not know it and when he made a turn the box fell over due to a bad pallet.
At this point Gerry had two incidents. On Sunday Dec. 16th , 2008 Nick B. the Supervisor took Gerry to the Human Relations dept and suggested that he go back on Production. Gerry agreed so they told him to report to Production on Wednesday Dec. 19th,2008 .
I WANT TO THANK EMPLOYEES FROM FIRST SOLAR THAT HAVE SENT EMAIL AND PHONE CALLS IN SUPPORT . WE ARE KEEPING ALL EMAILS AND COMMENTS TO GIVE TO EEOC INVESTIGATORS . DON'T LET ANYONE SCARE YOU . YOU CANNOT BE FIRED FOR HELPING .
BELOW IS A PICTURE OF THE PLANT WHERE MY SON WAS ( IN MY OPINION ) DISCRIMINATED AGAINST. THE EEOC RECEIVED CHARGES AND IS LOOKING INTO THIS SITUATION.

NOW I WILL TELL YOU WHAT HAPPENED, AND THE LIES FROM SUPERVISION TOLD TO GERRY, AND THE DISCRIMINATION AGAINST HIM.
Gerry Was Scheduled to come back to work on Wednesday Dec. 19th 2008 at 6pm for his new job in Production. At approx 2 or 3 pm on Tuesday Dec. 18th, 2008 . Evelyn Buckenmeyer from Human Relations called our house and told Gerry to just stay in Shipping until the person filling his shipping Job could come to it.
Gerry ask Nick Beakas his supervisor ,what is Company Policy if he has a third Incident on the Forklift ? Nick Beakas who should know Company Policy Told Gerry he would lose his Forklift License at the plant and would not be able to drive the Forklift for a period of Time. He did not say anything about termination from First Solar. Jarrod Wolf another Supervisor of North Plant also told Gerry he would not lose his employment for a third Forklift incident. Terrence M. an African American man had already had Three Forklift incidents and he was still employed.
Here's where ( IN OUR OPINION ) the discrimination took place.
On Jan 3rd, 2008 Gerry was ask by a Team Leader to come to ev room to pick of some materials with the Forklift. The Team lead opened an overhead door for Gerry to get the parts . Gerry drove in and the top of the forklift mass dented the door that was not open all the way. The team Leader left it too low approx 4 inches or so. This was Gerrys 3rd incident.
On Monday Jan 7th, 2008 Nick Beakas, Gerrys Supervisor called our house, I took the Call as I had many times . Nick ask Gerry to come in two hours early at 4pm. Gerry thought he was needed for overtime. upon arriving Nick Beakas Terminated Gerry's employment . We feel in our opinion it is because Gerry is a white man.
Terrence Mclellan is the African American with 3 forklift incidents. Terrance told Gerry this himself. He also told others this too. IF needed by the EEOC Investigator This will be revealed so they can investigate this. It is well known throughout the Plant with many workers that Terrence has had 3 forklift accidents yet, he is still employed there.
1st Gerry was told by numerous supervisors that he would not lose his job if he had three incidents. Yet, Gerry was terminated.
2nd. Why did Human relations Evelyn Buckenmeyer tell Gerry to report to production ,and then hold him from doing so for another 2 and 1/2 weeks If he had went to his production job, he would have never been on the forklift. Looking back this all looks very suspicious to us. Another person I know looked at the situation and his comment was " It looks like they were setting Gerry up " Thats his opinion and he is entitled to it.

If Gerry had even thought he would lose his employment he would not have got on the forklft to move parts for the team leader. Especially since Gerry had just purchased a home and new auto within the last year.Yet since Three Supervisors namely Jarod Wolf, Paul Kirian, and Nick Beakas either directly stated or implied that Gerry would not lose his job , Gerry got back on the forklift to move the parts requested by Bob Mowery.
3rd. If First Solar does not discriminate against white men, Why is the African American man named Terrence Mclellen still employed after having Three forklift accidents and the last even before Gerry had a third incident.
Gerry had almost become vested to Receive approx 98 of the 530 stocks from First Solar valued at approx. $150,000.00 . Gerry had approx 150,000.00 worth of stocks he would have eventually received besides his wages over the next 4 years and beyond. depending on stock value when received Gerry would have got about $21,000.00 now ,which would have been approx Feb, 19th, 2008 just weeks after they Terminated him. Of course this was all cancelled when terminated.
I with concern for my son called the Headquarters of First Solar. I ask to speak the Ceo , Before I contact the EEOC. the next day I got a call from Matt Dills from Human Relations. I ask why the African American man with three forklift incidents is still employed and Gerry is Terminated , Even after all other Supervison said he would not be ?
Matt would not answer the question. Matt Dills( in my opinion ) may also be part of the Discrimination process against Gerry.
He told me They had to take the other employees safety into consideration.
I told him That answer dosen't make good sense, and here's why.
If Gerry was such a safety risk, Why would you as leading Supervison of this Plant, leave a person on a motorized vehicle for an additional 2 and 1/2 weeks and supposedly jeapordise the safety of your employees.
Gerry has been discriminated against because he is a white man
I have contacted my Attorney
I am contacting the Local news station about the situation .
Gerry is Contacting the EEOC and filing discrimination charges against First Solar.
This company ( in our opinion ) is unfair in its treatment to certain employees that they want to discriminate against and single out.
Numerous fellow workers at First Solar have called or emailed Gerry , and let him know how upset they are , at how he has been treated. Many are afraid because they too could be next to go.
I PLAN TO PASS OUT FLYERS TO LET PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THIS SITE. I HOPE PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD WILL VISIT THIS SITE AND THINK TWICE ABOUT DOING BUSINESS WITH A COMPANY THAT TREATS IT'S EMPLOYEES LIKE THIS.
IN OUR OPINION YOU SHOULD THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU PURCHASE SOLAR PANELS FROM THIS COMPANY. IT COULD BE YOUR SON DAUGHTER, HUSBAND, MOTHER, FATHER, ETC... THAT COULD BE TREATED UNFAIRLY and DISCRIMINTATED AGAINST BY THIS COMPANY IF THEY ARE OR ARE EVER EMPLOYED BY THEM.
